It’s about time to kick ass and chew bubble gum all over again. The king is back, Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction has just been teased online and with the help of some fans, we know a few details about the game. Interceptor Entertainment is developing the upcoming game with creator Scott Miller and it will be a slightly different Duke Nukem game than what were use to playing.

A new website was posted teasing an upcoming announcement for Duke Nukem. With a countdown set for February 25th, the development team asked viewers to like the Facebook page and upon receiving 10,000 likes, the alien text shown on the homepage would be translated. Hours later the text was cracked revealing what the upcoming Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction will be based on.

The upcoming game is set to release on the PC and PlayStation 4 sometime this year. What will be slightly different is that this game will be played as a top-down RPG. Players will have to achieve experience points and use tech trees for different upgrades. Below is the message translated by fans, revealing some of the premise of the game.

Few could have predicted the great catastrophe. The devastation from the stars. A once peaceful and prosperous race, the Kyrr fell victim to this mysterious and terrible force. Their flourishing homeworld, Kyrron, reduced to a planet ruled by chaos and hostility. A blazing desert wasteland dominated by a neverending struggle for survival.

And only those willing to adapt survived. The Kyrr adapted. The Kyrr survived.

Kyrron’s now lifeless landscape forced them into a life of technological augmentation. Transforming this once cultured people into a marriage of muscle and machine – an existence defined as much by their agony as it was their anger.

And so their bodies were doomed to follow the fate of their eternally ruined world.

Radical changes to Kyrron created Kyrronite, a source of untold power. With it, they brought neighboring worlds to their knees, yet it would condemn them to an evening crueler, fate, as they would be forever bound to their kyronite rich world. A dying planet they so fiercely despised.

But another great force was destined to find them, and with his help, the Kyrr would end their fall from paradise and begin their rise from hell…

The king makes his next generation debut in Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction. A top-down action role-playing game for PC and PlayStation. Duke Nukem kicks ass across planets in unreal engine – powered galactic adventure to the save the president from an apocalyptic alien threat. All new enemies. A neverbefore seen arsenal of devastating weaponry and series-first mechanics; including experience points and tech trees, will let Duke rip em a new one in a way he never has before.
