With the PS3 as the platform, we have seen a multitude of open world games which have never failed to amaze us. The open world games are the most played and longest running games among all genres because of the availability of various time killing methods fostered by the open world setting.

Compiled here today is a selection of six PS3 open world games that you should most definitely play. Without further chit-chat, let’s dwell on them below.

1. Skyrim

Developed by Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a role playing action open world game that was released on November 11, 2011. The game is the fifth installment in The Elder Scrolls series of games.

The story line of Skyrim revolves around the player who is tasked with defeating Alduin, a dragon prophesied to destroy the world. The setting of the game is 200 years after the previous installment in the series, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The tradition of the previous games in the series is continued by Skyrim, as the game allows the player to postpone the main storyline indefinitely by travelling to any part of the world at any given time.

The game met with critical and commercial success, shipping over 7 million copies in the first week of release. The game and the series in general attained mass popularity by imbibing the non-linear gameplay tradition. One of the most successful open world games to grace the PS3 and definitely one to play on the PS3.

2. GTA IV

Arguably the best open world game of this generation and a fodder for many a debates, Grand Theft Auto IV is an open world action adventure game developed by Rockstar. The game was released for PlayStation 3 on 29 April, 2008.

The game is set in the fictional Liberty City, which bases itself heavily on New York City. The game follows the adventures of Nico Bellic, who is in search for the ‘American Dream’ but gets himself into a world of crime. GTA IV features open world gameplay and derives its elements from driving games and third person shooters. The game attracted mass appeal due to the overwhelming popularity of the previous games in the series. GTA IV broke industry records with sales of around 3.6 million units on its first day of release and grossing more than $500 million in revenue in the first week.

Be it story-wise or gameplay-wise, GTA IV is a gem of a game, one to be reckoned with. Definitely one to try on the PS3.

3. Saints Row: The Third

Saints Row: The Third is an action adventure open world video game published by THQ and developed by Volition, Inc. It is the third title in the Saints Row series, a sequel to the 2008 Saints Row 2.

The third installment in the Saints Row series retains the trademark gameplay aspect of open world and urban warfare. The player controls the character of the leader of the Third Street Saints as they battle it out with three gangs in the fictional city of Steelport. The element of insanity finds prominence in the game as the over the top humor elements are scattered abundantly.

The game was mostly well received by critics and fans who praised it’s intriguing gameplay and quirky humor. The game shipped over 4 million copies till date. Don’t give this one a miss.

4. Sleeping Dogs

Developed by United Front Games in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios and published by Square Enix, Sleeping Dogs is a 2012 action adventure open world video game. Released on August 14, 2012, the game takes place in Hong Kong and focuses on an undercover operation to infiltrate the Triads.

Sleeping Dogs is played from an over-the-shoulder, third person perspective. The player assumes the role of Wei Shen, a Chinese-American police officer who is tasked with infiltrating the Sun On Yee Triad organization. The storyline missions in the game are essential to progress through the game, but as in other open world games, players can complete them at their leisure. The open world is properly utilized in the game as the player can participate in fights, races and also possibly have girlfriends.

With a great story and amazing open world gameplay elements, not one to give the miss on the PS3. The game takes place in a modern day world.

5. inFamous 2

Infamous 2 is a 2012 PlayStation 3 exclusive developed by Sucker Punch Productions. The game is a direct sequel to the 2009 Infamous. The game takes place in a modern day world where people with superhuman abilities exist and are termed ‘Conduits’.

The player assumes the role of Cole MacGrath who prepares to face the Beast, a prophesied being of untold power. The setting of the game is after a few months from the first game in the series wherein clandestine organisations seek to create and employ Conduits for their own personal benefits and view Cole as one of the most powerful, attempting to gain his aid or eliminate him.

The game managed to hold its own sales-wise and was possesses a great story. Its open-world offers gamers a bevy of side quests and other activities making the best PS3 exclusive which features an open-world environment. Definitely one you should play on the PS3.

6. Assassin’s Creed III

Assassin’s Creed III is a 2012 action adventure video game from the house of Ubisoft. The game is the fifth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, and a direct sequel to 2011′s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

The plot of the game is set in a fictional history of real world events. It is set in the 18th century and follows the adventures of Connor, the ancestor of story protagonist Desmond Miles. The framing story is set in the 21st century and Desmond tries to relive the memories of his ancestors. The game is played from the third person perspective and primarily focuses on Desmond and Connor’s combat and stealth abilities. The game also has a multiplayer element.

Assassin’s Creed III was hugely successful and sold 12 million copies worldwide and features one of the most diverse open worlds for gamers to try out. Definitely a must play on the PS3.

The age of the PS4 is upon us. Just after the official reveal of the PS4 at E3, a bevy of games have been announced that have managed to entice each and all of the PlayStation fans.

Though a sizeable line-up of games are already incoming, we can be almost certain that Sony is holding back some games to bedazzle us during its first year of production.

We attempt here to take a look at some of the most famous franchises that have continued to elude the news and those which we will definitely like to see in the games’ roster for the PS4.

Here are our choices of the games that Sony might have up their sleeve.

1. Uncharted 4

The Uncharted series is a third person shooter action adventure video game which follows modern day treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The series includes three games- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, its sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and second sequel Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The second title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won numerous Game of the Year awards.

With such an excellent track record, it will not be surprising if Sony is keeping the next game in the series in secret for a later reveal.

2. God of War 4

True gamers don’t need an introduction to the God of War series. It is a best selling action adventure video game loosely based on Greek mythology and a winner of many awards. The series became a flagship title for PlayStation spanning seven games across multiple platforms. The series made the character of Kratos immortal among gamers and achieved a massive fan following.

With the award winning series and the last game, God of War 3 a blockbuster, it is highly improbable that the publishers are not holding back another God of War installment.

3. LittleBigPlanet 3

The LittleBigPlanet series of games is a puzzle platformer series of games published by Sony and developed by Media Molecule. The game’s orientation is primarily towards gameplay, focusing less on the story and follows the adventures of Sackboy. All the games in the series put emphasis on user generated content and go by the tagline ”Play, Create, Share”. The gameplay consists of the player taking control of Sackboy and navigating him through various levels. Most of the games in the series has players playing solo or co-operatively with friends, navigating various levels collecting “bubbles”.

The games in the LittleBigPlanet series generated mass fan following primarily due to the focus on fun gameplay that players can resort to when bored. Definitely one Sony might be holding back.

4. Quantic Dream PS4 exclusive

Quantic Dream is a French video game developer which provides motion capture services to film and video game industries. Their first foray into the gaming sector was with the release of Omikron: The Nomad Soul in 1999 for PC and Dreamcast. The next project was Quark, which was cancelled. In 2002, the development of Fahrenheit started which was the first to use interactive cinema technology. The game went on to be critically acclaimed and won multiple awards. The next titles Quantic Dream announced were Heavy Rain and Omikron 2 in 2005. Heavy Rain was released in 2010 and went on to become a bestseller.

Quantic Dream’s PS4 aspirations came to light with the showcase of The Dark Sorcerer tech demo during E3 2013. The video that was revealed showed a real time 3D rendering of a human actor’s face as he went through various emotions. Quantic Dream said that the technology demoed will be further advanced and used in “future Quantic Dream games”.

Keeping this announcement in mind and also the fact that Quantic Dream is not one to be in the background while other developer vie for the attention of gamers, we can very safely say that there is definitely a game in the works that we are not aware of.

5. Gran Turismo 5 PS4 version

Gran Turismo 6 is a racing sim video game which is currently slated to be released for PlayStation 3 on November 28, 2013 as listed by two separate online retailers, Newegg.com and Multiplayer.com. The Gran Turismo series of games, as you all probably know, are intended to simulate and replicate the appearance and performance of a large number of real world vehicles. The game debuted in 1997 and is at present the highest selling game under the PlayStation banner.

With such an excellent track record, we can almost nullify the fact that the game is not being developed for the PS4. Also as Gran Turismo 6 releases near about the time the PS4 console is scheduled to be released, a PS4 version is most definitely on the cards.

These are our choices of the games that are most likely to be in development for the PS4; the ones that have not been revealed to us as of now. Do let us know what you think. Any feedback is welcome.

Grand Theft Auto V is inbound. The gaming community is pretty hyped about it aided by the various improved features of the game compared to its predecessors. Also, the hype is also due to the enormous volume of the fan base that GTA has accumulated over the years.

If we bring about a comparison between GTA IV and GTA V, we see an amazing change in a small period of time in all aspects and particularly the visual department. Although the hardware is the same, i.e. the PS3, Rockstar has made vast improvements in the texture of the game and the graphics which is evident from the screens and trailers that have been released till now. We cannot begin to comprehend how much more will the next generation consoles usher-in in terms of visual extravaganza.

GTA V will be the first major title after GTA IV which was released in 2008. The game, as you all know, is a open world action adventure game which has curved out its own niche in a genre defining way. The world of the game is a continuation of the fictional universe that was introduced in GTA San Andreas. The game is touted as the biggest open world game yet and will concentrate on “the pursuit of the almighty dollar”. The game is slated to release on 17 September.

We, on account of visual comparison of GTA IV and GTA V, and also for your viewing pleasure, have compiled a series of images which are jaw dropping to say the least when we compare them in the same context, keeping in mind that they both are on the same platform.

GTA has always been characterized by the variety of accessories in the form of gameplay elements that come with main missions of the game. These include various aspects of the open-world that the player interacts with and various mini-missions and mini-games.

The new addition to the series, the upcoming GTA V, also is replete with such aspects which promise to make the game even more interesting and playable than its predecessors.

Compiled here is a list of 6 lesser known GTA secrets that may have escaped your oversight.

1. You can switch characters on the fly when not in missions

Players will be able to switch from one character to another when not undergoing any mission. However, if they do so, they will find themselves in between car chases or at the beginning of some particular mission exclusive to one of the three characters.

2. You can buy property and invest in real estate

The fan favourite feature makes a comeback. Players can invest in property and real estate. They can also put their money in stock exchange and invest in other such risky but rewarding ventures.

This will provide a welcome change from the missions when they become monotonous and increase the playing time of the game.

3. Characters have special abilities

GTA V contains three player controlled protagonists- Michael, Trevor and Franklin, criminals whose stories interconnect as they complete missions. Each of them has a special ability which can be activated. Michael can slow down time during gunfights (a.k.a Max Payne), Franklin can also slow down time, but during driving. Trevor can enter into a violent rage mode where he can take less damage and do more damage to enemies and perform a unique melee attack.

Interesting powers, these. Will be of help during tight situations.

4. You’ll able to play Tennis and Golf among other things

GTA V will feature a host of new mini games along with the return of the series’s favorite mini games like bowling, pool darts, etc. Tennis and Golf will be introduced in GTA V, contributing to the already big roster of mini-games.

This will result in increase of replayability factor of the game along with enjoyability.

5. There will be animals you can hunt and predators who can hunt you

This is also a first in GTA. There will be animals who can be hunted and predators who in turn can hunt you. There will be a variety of animals ranging from deer, beavers and more aggressive ones like Cougars and bears.

This opens up a totally new section of the game (a.k.a Red Dead Redemption) providing a respite when players find the gameplay missions monotonous.

6. You’ll be able to customize weapons and cars in the game

Both weapons and cars will be editable in the game. As announced by Rockstar,”Without going into detail just yet, we can tell you that both will be very customizable – with a range of weapon upgrades as well as some very deep car customization. Stay tuned for more very soon.”

The weapons and cars will be customizable depending upon the money available at hand and the progress of the game.

These are our choices of 6 secrets of GTA V that you may have overlooked. Feel free to let us know your views and also add something we might have missed.

Anyone familiar with Digital Distribution services on the PC will be aware of GOG.com. PlayStation Gang recently had the good fortune to sit down with Trevor Longino and quiz him about how it has managed to strive when many other such servives have come and gone without making much of an impact.

Not only do we talk about GOG.com’s future and how they plan to offer more to the customers but also touch base on many other important topics including DRM, piracy, Kickstarter and much more. Read on to know more.

PSG – GOG’s been here for a while now. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you’ve managed to survive for so long while many others have failed to do so.

GOG - GOG.com is a digital distribution platform built around three core values: DRM-free gaming, fair pricing, and customer love. We started in 2008 with our main focus on classic PC masterpieces like Baldur’s Gate, Fallout, System Shock 2, Duke Nukem 3D and, since then have built up our catalog to 500+ titles. We have also added support for our growing community of Mac users and, a little over a year ago, started selling new indie games and AAA titles.

As to our history, GOG.com is a part of the CD Projekt group that also includes CD Projekt RED development studio, creator of the award-winning Witcher series. CD Projekt started their business way back, in mid-90′s as local retail distributors of games in Poland. Their biggest accomplishment back then was introducing a budget-friendly series of PC games to the Polish community of gamers. To understand the scope of their success one has to understand that in the 90′s Poland was a market where piracy was much more common than buying legitimate games.

Few gamers were able to afford top-of-the-line hardware or new games. CD Projekt came up with a strategy to concentrate their efforts on releasing titles that were at least a few years old, and thus not requiring expensive computer gear, at reasonable prices, and last but not least, equipped with tons of extra content – translated original booklets, posters, stickers etc.

In a few years they were able to build a community of paying gamers who decided to reject piracy for the added value CD Projekt provided at an affordable price. They did not use any copy-protection in their releases, as they understood from the start that, in Poland, buying games was a matter of choice, and that DRM would not curb piracy. This success brought on another idea: why not do this globally? That is how GOG came into being, building upon the relationships with publishers already established by CD Projekt. Interplay and Codemasters were the first to sign up for the DRM-free revolution.

If you are not quite certain what DRM means: DRM-free means we don’t have any copy protection in our games, which is quite unique on the PC market. All the games you buy on GOG are yours to download as many times as you need: you can re-download them on multiple devices that you own, create backups, and play offline without any need for Internet connection. We also make sure that all the classic releases work like a dream on modern operating systems (which is quite an important issue for games released, say, more than 10 years ago).

We sell those games at a flat worldwide budget-friendly price, without any “regional pricing” crap. We also make an effort to provide as much extra value as possible for our customers: our games come with a lot of free goodies, such as soundtracks, wallpapers, original manuals, maps, and so on. Finally, we provide comprehensive customer support for all the games we sell. This customer-satisfaction-oriented approach resulted in a devoted, growing community of fans, who share our passion and values. Many of our users are extremely active on our forums and help us find better ways to serve them.

Our growth and development has a lot to do with us carefully listening to the voice of our community and doing our best to answer their needs, be it with new features, specific releases or new directions for GOG. Our focus on the best that gaming has to offer, combined with our rather receptive nature might just be the reason GOG is the second biggest independent digital distributor on the ‘Net.

GOG started off as a service which only sold old classics but have since evolved into something which now offers the best of both worlds (stocking new and old games alike). What prompted you to make this change? Has it proved to be a bigger challenge than you expected?

Since the conception of GOG.com as (back then) Good Old Games we were quite certain this is just a start for us. After building up our profile through signing more and more deals we were able to entertain the idea of releasing new games from indie studios, most of which are open to launching their games DRM-free. We also treated this new opportunity as an extension of our philosophy towards immortal classics: our new releases are deeply rooted in the same old-school approach that defined the industry in the 80s and 90s.

Developing games was always a way of providing great entertainment for gamers, trying to build something you could be proud of your entire life. This exceptional attention to detail, treating the game as a labour of love and hard work is a defining quality for many indie devs. Those values and pure excitement of creation are bridging the gap between the more idealistic times of the past and today’s reality of PC gaming. We are looking for titles–like Legend of Grimrock, Fez, FTL: Faster Than Light– that are doing just that.

So far, we have received great feedback from the community praising our move into releasing brand new titles and business-wise it has been a very good first year for us in our current shape and form.

GOG is known for its strict No DRM policies, and we’re aware how difficult it was for you, initially, to convince publishers to support this approach. But you now have a sizeable catalogue of games, new and old alike. Is it still a tough job to convince them about such an approach or has it become relatively easier now?

After 5 years of operation we have raw data from all of our sales numbers that is very persuasive. It turns out that our approach has a lasting appeal for gamers – the older games are made available to them hassle-free, with additional goodies, optimized for their operating systems. Another eye-opener for them must have been our successful release of a brand new AAA title – The Witcher 2 from our sister company CD Projekt RED. That made it easier for us to release completely new indie games as most of the publishers acknowledged our success and have embraced releasing games without copy protection. Not all of them, mind you, but we keep working on it…

GOG has always been a supporter of Indie talent, but how does the audience respond to Indie games? Does the good reviews most of these titles actually convert to good sales numbers? How successful has Indie games been on your service?

We’ve had great success as an indie platform; since we started a little over a year ago we’ve grown to where developers talk about the fact that we’re often their #2 source of revenue after Steam ). This doesn’t come by accident, of course. A lot of what made games from the 90s so innovative and fun was that pretty much every game has been created with a team and a budget that would be considered “budget” by today’s standards. As a result, there’s a whole lot of overlap between “indie” games and the classics of yesteryear, and we deliberately look for games that evoke the classic gaming qualities and feel. The indie devs who make these games have true passion for their game and work on the tiniest of details providing great value for money to their customers. These are values we can get behind. Suffice to say we are very happy that we have taken the step into the indie waters last year.

It’s an interesting balance for us: new games are obviously generally much easier to put up in the store for sale–there’s no QA or game remastering for modern systems needed, obviously–but there’s also usually no built-in fanbase who want to play the game, so we have to work harder on the marketing & PR side to help make the game a success.

No one can ignore the impact Kickstarter’s had on the PC gaming scene with developers having an option to get their game directly out there, in front of its audience and try to sell the idea to them even before the game’s been made. What is GOG’s opinion about this? Has GOG featured any Kickstarter funded games on its platform? How well have they performed?

We’re fans of Kickstarter here at GOG–across the company we have collectively chipped in to back more than a hundred projects, according to a quick internal survey we did a while back. That doesn’t mean that we don’t also realize that there are potential risks and rewards with Kickstarter. The crowd funding bubble we’re in right now will probably burst when the first major Kickstarter project fails. A simple fact of game development is that more than half of the games that start production don’t finish. As such, developers should be extra cautious not to promise more than they can deliver to their supporters.

That said, we’ve seen some great stuff from Kickstarter already land on GOG. From the recently released Expeditions: Conquistador to some great games like FTL: Faster Than Light or Strike Suit Zero, I’m excited to see that developers are making good use of Kickstarter to make innovative and exciting titles, and we continue to look to sign the best games from there–and elsewhere.

Your thoughts on the pay-what-you-want model which services such as the Humble Bundle has made popular?

We’re in an interesting position on this: we’ve come out, before, as being against steep sales and pay what you want pricing. But anyone who looks at GOG will note that we’ve done both of those. Our audience reacted when we mentioned, around two years ago, that we were opposed to crazy steep discounts, and the reaction was not good. We found ourselves re-evaluating our stance on these things in light of the reaction. And there’s undisputable, hard evidence that–in the short term–80% off sales definitely increase revenue. And for all that we’re the crazy rebels of digital distribution, we’re also still a business. When every other store was doing it, we were handicapping ourselves by not joining in.

But it’s a bit of a devil’s bargain: when we release an indie game like Expeditions: Conquistador and you see a lot of comments saying, “Man, this game looks good but $15 is too much to pay for a game,” I think the bargain you’ve driven is evident: people are increasingly seeing that games are cheap commodities, something that you pay $5–or less!–to purchase. And that puts game creators in a tough place; it’s devaluing games and our hobby in general, and it’s not a good place for the industry to be going overall, I don’t think.

How does GOG think might be a way to tackle the menace of piracy? The reason which has prompted most of the big publishers to implement restrictive policies such as DRM?

We’ve proven our anti-piracy model. It works without question: 90% of our catalog of classic games were only available via abandonware, torrents, and other illegal methods when we started to sell them. So we clawed these games back from piracy by providing a simple thing: value. Pirates don’t give you the goodies, the customer support, the fantastic community that GOG does. When you buy a game on GOG, that’s what you’re paying five or ten or twenty dollars for: knowing that we take good care of you, and we provide unparalleled value for money.

There’s a challenge to doing things this way: it’s harder work. Our sister company CD Projekt RED, for example, provided a phenomenal package in their basic retail version of The Witcher 2: there were maps, a medallion, a paper strategy guide, a paper manual, a CD with the whole soundtrack, and so on. When’s the last time you bought a boxed retail game and got a CD and a single slip of paper that says, “the manual is on the DVD”? At that point, what are you providing that pirates don’t? A box? The same with a Steam copy of a game: you get the game and not much else. It’s hard work, getting extra assets together, making a package that feels special. And it feels risky to say, “let’s take the ten, fifty or hundred thousand that we’d be spending on DRM licensing and instead devote it to making our game an extraordinary value.”

And, of course, DRM doesn’t solve piracy anyway. Look for any AAA game released so far this year on a torrent tracker you like. Of course you can find it, and of course they’ve cracked the DRM and removed it. So pirates–the very people who you are trying to stop–don’t have any need to worry about the DRM because they don’t ever see it. Only paying customers do. That’s crazy!

Finally, piracy isn’t solvable. Since the invention of the printing press, people have been infringing on IPs. Some people steal. Some people will always opt to take your IP for free. To hell with them. Instead, find the people who will pay for your product and treat them like kings. That is how you build brand loyalty. That is how you make people who don’t just buy the game you’re selling, but who want to buy the next one. And it’s how you solve piracy–as much as it can be solved.

Your closest digital competitor is Steam (Valve’s Digital Game Distribution service), and they’re doing pretty good although they’ve some kind of DRM in place. We have to ask, why the #NODRM approach for GOG?

Actually, I’d argue our closest digital competitor is piracy. And they’re even bigger than Steam.

We’re not necessarily a competitor for Steam. We’re an alternative. We provide things they don’t–namely, a DRM-free experience, flat pricing world-wide, and goodies and attention to our games and gamers. They provide things that we don’t. Many of the games that we sell are available on Steam as well, and the fact that we do as well as we have in the last year proves that some people find what we’re doing a valuable alternative to Steam.

So with that said, the fact that we’ve taken the #NoDRM approach makes a lot of sense if you think about who it is that we consider as the largest “digital distributor” in the market: pirates. We’ve deliberately designed our signup, purchase, and download process to be as quick and painless as possible, because if you compare the process of buying a game with DRM to downloading the game from a torrent, the stark difference in simplicity and user-friendliness is boggling.

#NoDRM is something we believe in for a number of reasons. First of all, DRM pretty much burdens the legit gamers instead of the pirates. If you are paying for the game, like you’re supposed to, why should you have to go through all the hoops of permanent Internet connection, copy protection etc.? Sure, Steam’s DRM might seem unintrusive, but wait until your Internet drops out with no warning on a Saturday afternoon, and suddenly you can see that you don’t have much control over the games you buy if they have DRM.

We simply believe that if you have paid your buck the game is yours to do with it whatever you want. If you need backup copies, or you want to transfer it onto your friends laptop you have borrowed for the weekend – it’s all up to you. Above all, we are gamers here at GOG.com, and these are the things that we would like to be able to do with our games.

Although GOG is a strictly PC service, one has to keep a check on the gaming scene in general. With the next-generation of consoles announced. Who does GOG think has had a more consumer friendly approach? Which one is GOG personally looking forward to the most?

GOG.com is a PC/Mac service only but most of us own consoles as well. I’d say that it looks like PlayStation 4 is the way to go at the moment, but there is also a lot of time left for developments on the console front, so let’s not declare completely one way or the other yet.

Still, I think most of the GOG staff is leaning SONY this year.

People reacted pretty strongly to Microsoft’s Always-online and DRM policies. So much so that it actually forced the company to turn back on most of its previously announced DRM and used-game policies. What does GOG make of it? Was it right on its part of do away with all the features they ‘promised’ would make the experience better in order to recover from the consumer’s initial ire?

The DRM that Microsoft had proposed was ridiculous, and the community reaction wasn’t surprising to us. Microsoft’s initial response to the reaction was also ridiculous, so they didn’t do any damage control once things started to look bad, either. The damage is done, and they will have to work hard to regain consumer trust and support. I also don’t see how these features are so tightly linked to the revolutionary improvements they were so eager to introduce. I guess, if they really wanted to, they could do away with the “always on” DRM and still provide the infrastructure for voluntary connection.

With the advent of additional services such as Kickstarter, and digital distribution options such as GOG themselves, where does it feel the PC gaming scene is heading? Has things improved as far as sales are concerned? Is PC gaming going to grow like never before in the coming years or does things look bleak for the industry?

About every three to five years, people declare that PC gaming is dead–usually right after a new console launch, actually. Somehow, the platform keeps soldiering on. I think we have a bubble around PC gaming at the moment–crowdfunding, bundle deals, great indie content–and it’s bound to burst eventually. That said, I think that the trend remains: more and more people spend more and more of their time–work and leisure–on PCs. They’re not going anywhere. So I believe that while the prominence of PCs may wax and wane, that things are going well, we continue to see developers creating exciting things, and PC gaming will remain a big part of the market for the foreseeable future.

What’s in store for us in regards to GOG? Is the company planning to make some interesting announcements which PC gamers should keep an eye out for?

Well, we can’t make any specific announcements, but we do have some great games–classic and new ones alike–coming out in the next few months. Make sure to keep your figurative ear to the ground for more updates from GOG.

We would like to thank GOG.com for taking its time out to give us the chance to speak with them. If our readers would like to know anything, feel free to post them in the comments below.

The gaming world is abuzz with the developments that are revealed almost regularly after the reveal of the PlayStation 4 at E3 2013. With pre-orders flying off the charts, people are keen to know every little detail about the console.

New features and trivia that emerge does not cease to amaze us to say the least. Here is a list of 5 things that you may not know about the PS4, with recent developments coupled in.

1. The touchpad is clickable

In addition to the L3 and R3 buttons of the DualShock 3, which we have become habituated till now, there is a new addition in the DualShock 4: a clickable touchpad.

It will be interesting to see the implementation of this additional input in gaming along with the two point interface the touchpad possesses. What developers choose to do with the extra input is anybody’s guess as of now.

2. Headset to be bundled with the console.

Chat being a major aspect of gaming in PS4, it is well and good that a headset comes bundled with the console. More so, as cross-game chat is being added as a new feature, the headset will be a welcome addition.

It will be interesting to chat with a friend who is playing Knack while you are playing Killzone, will it not?

3. The light bar cannot be turned off

As recently revealed by SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, the light bar on top of the DualShock 4 cannot be either dimmed or turned off. This new revelation has sparked some concerns but is a easily fixable aspect for those who might face problems because it.

It’s all the same for me as I don’t like to play in total darkness for it to pose any threat to gameplay by reflecting on glossy screens. What about you?

4. PS4 lighter, DualShock 4 heavier

The PS4 weighs at just 2.8kg/98.7oz, almost half to that of the original 60 gb PS3 model which weighed at 4.9kg/172.8oz. On the other hand, the DualShock 4 is a little heavier, courtesy the touchpad and light bar. The controller weighs at 210g/7.4oz compared to its predecessor’s 192g/6.8oz.

No complaints with the console; the lighter, the better. But will the weight of the DualShock 4 affect you in any way?

5. Secondary chips

In addition to the processing power of the AMD, the PlayStation 4 will contain secondary chips. The secondary chips will aid in multitasking as they will be responsible for running the background tasks like social networking updates and background downloads, even in the sleep mode.

You will never miss out on download progress even while doing something else.

These are our choices for the 5 interesting developments regarding the PS4 which you might not be aware of. You are welcome to comment and express your views and also if you want to add something.

The PlayStation 3 through the years has been a hub for the most popular FPS games that have graced the gaming world. Most have seen a survival as a series. Compiled here is a list of 6 First Person Shooters that you should definitely play on the console.

We might have left out a lot of FPS titles you personally enjoy, but these six titles are a definite must try if you own a PlayStation 3 console. Without further chit chat, here’s the list below.

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision (Japan release by Square Enix), Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a FPS that has gained much popularity in the PS3 as a medium.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the first game in the Call of Duty franchise to feature future warfare technology. The storyline of the game undergoes different branching according to the choices the player makes. The game, along with its counterpart released for the Vita Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, became one of the highest grossing games of all times making more that $500 million.

One of the most popular and successful of games in the FPS, definitely one to play in the PS4.

2. Dead Island

One for the Zombie fans, Dead Island is an action role-playing survival horror video game. Published by Deep Silver and published by Techland, the storyline of the game revolves around surviving in a Zombie infested island. The gameplay is based primarily on combat and completing quests.

With a intriguing gameplay, like having different types of Zombies having different characteristics, the game attained much fan following as makes the list in any listing of games to be played in on the PS3. A must-play for zombie fans.

3. Battlefield 3

The eleventh installment in the series, Battlefield 3 is a first person shooter published by EA and developed by EA Digital Illusions CE, a direct sequel to 2005′s Battlefield 2.

One of the most critically acclaimed, the game sold 5 million copies in the first week of release. The player attains a persona of various military factions like a U.S. Marine, an F18 weapons system officer, an M1A2 Abrams tank operator, and a Spetsnaz GRU operative. The game contains single player, co-op and multiplayer modes.

With good storylines, multiplayer and co-op elements, Battlefield 3 is a must have in the games collection.

4. Killzone 3

Developed by Guerrilla Games exclusively for the PS3, Killzone 3 is the fourth installment in the Killzone series. The gameplay resembles Killzone 2 but has many enhancements and tweaks fostered by the inclusion of the PS Move in the gameplay.

The gameplay environs are Arctic landscapes, a lethal alien jungle, nuclear wastelands as well as space battles in addition to the elements present in Killzone 2. The single player is playable and the multiplayer is engaging. The multiplayer aspect of the game contains elements like Guerilla Warfare, Warzone, and Operations game modes.

A thoroughly playable game, definitely one to play.

5. Medal of Honor: Warfighter

Developed by Danger Close Games and published by Electronic Arts, Medal of Honor: Warfighter is a direct sequel to 2010′s series reboot Medal of Honor. It is overall the fourteenth installment in the Medal of Honor series.

The Medal of Honor series has seen a vast fan following through the years, from the era of the PS2. Though the game has faced much criticism from the reboot, fans of the series definitely cannot keep themselves away from the game.

6. Resistance series

What’s a FPS list on PS3 without mentioning the Resistance series of games. Insomniac’s series which has seen three titles exclusive to the console offers you with a amazing FPS experience. The games, especially Resistance 3 is worth a try for every FPS lover out there. Killing Chimera is rewarding and the story isn’t too bad as well.

Here is our choice of the 6 FPS games you should play on the PS3. Feedback is welcome from your side. We would be much pleased to hear your views on any other notable choice of games.
