Clueless Gamer Grand Theft Auto 5 Review by Conan O’Brien

Eric Swain — Mon, 23 Sep 2013 04:02:10 +0000

Conan O’Brien on his ‘Clueless Gamer’ segment reviewed Grand Theft Auto 5 in his usual accidental irreverent fashion. I’ve seen quite a few of his reviews before, but I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard at any of them before as much as this one. Part of that is because he isn’t taking the strange behaviors that come up in video games that many of us take for granted to task. Instead they’re basically behaving like you or I would with a friend on the couch.

Though not being a gamer himself, or rather a clueless one, some of that has to do with not having the mastery of controls playing a game as complex as GTA 5. You can’t accept the mayhem being caused by someone else along with their reaction as anything but funny. Watch him have to play with four hands on the controller, fail by killing people he just met and his vendetta against a strip club.

Analyst Predicts GTA 5 Tops $1 Billion in First Month

Eric Swain — Tue, 17 Sep 2013 12:37:15 +0000

An analyst reported in a note to investors that Grand Theft Auto V sales will outpace the previous installment in the series.

“Given the significantly higher installed base of relevant console platforms at launch, greater sales concentration among the top video game franchises, and unprecedented pentup demand, we expect GTA 5 to outpace GTA 4 sales, and generate roughly $1 billion in retail sales during the first month.”

That will be quite a feat. Grand Theft Auto 4 shipped 11 million units in its first month back in April 2008 and so far has sold 25 million copies since launch.

Call of Duty regularly manages 20 million units year, so it’s easy to see that after a five year absence that Grand Theft Auto could easily match and exceed that.

Gamers Rage at Sony over GTA 5 PS3 pre-release download delay

Charly Pierre — Sun, 15 Sep 2013 04:04:53 +0000

It appeared that the gamers who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PlayStation Network are having anger management issues against Sony for delaying the ability to download the game before its official release.

Sony had promised those who pre-order GTA 5 on PSN will have four days ahead to gain the access to download the game. Instead of Friday the 13th, Sony has confirmed that GTA 5 will be available to download on Monday September 16th. This left many gamers upset.

However, Rockstar updated their official Twitter account and confirmed that those who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto 5 on PSN Europe will be able to download the game Sunday Sept 15th at 3pm BST and for those who live in the US will have to wait until Monday Sept. 16 at 3 am EST.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Game Map Released

Eric Swain — Wed, 11 Sep 2013 03:59:16 +0000

The full Grand Theft Auto 5 world map leaked online earlier today after a scan of the Brady Game guide was posted on Reddit. After some complaining that the map was too small, Rockstar decided to post the full map themselves in a much higher resolution on twitter. The map also comes with some pull-outs showing certain areas in more detail.

We couldn’t find the tweet itself and it is very similar to the earlier scan, sans the more details zoomed in sections. Whether it is legitimate from Rockstar itself or not, it is still the map for GTA5.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is out next week on September 17th for PS3.

GTA 5 In-Game Commercials Video Released

Eric Swain — Sun, 08 Sep 2013 01:24:54 +0000

To tide you over until Grand Theft Auto 5 is released in a little over a week, we have compilation video of some of the crazy in-game commercials. Recent GTA games seemed to have backed off a little on the social satire and wackiness that the early entries were based in to focus on gritty crime stories.

These commercials are immediate in their satire, making fun of energy bar commercials, Spike and a Power Rangers spoof that got me laughing out loud. Enjoy.

Grand Theft Auto 5: All 3 Characters will have to be Unlocked

Magadala See — Wed, 17 Jul 2013 05:52:45 +0000

When you start the Grand Theft Auto 5 game, you will not have three of the main Characters: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Turns out the user will have to “explore the world of each of them” in order to access all of the characters.

President of Rockstar North Leslie Benzies informs the website jeauxactu.com that it would “hurt the gameplay and story” if all three of the individuals were available at the beginning of the game.

Benzies states, “Much of the game relies on the three characters and the way in which the lifestyle and actions of one affect the other two. We think of the three characters from the start but we thought that it would hurt the gameplay and the story.

“We want to give the player the opportunity to know the three characters individually and explore the world of each of them, and it would not have been possible if the three had been available from the start.”

It is obvious that Grand Theft Auto 5 requires the user to know the back story of each character before they are available to embody.

How do you feel about Rockstar’s decision?
