For comparison sake, The PlayStation 3 cost about $600 USD at time of launch. The average Argentinean makes about $10,000 USD per year according to the government, making the next generation out of many hands for quite a while.

The Analyst says, “Our sense is next-gen games will launch at the same $60 retail price point as the current-gen games,”

“However, increasingly, publishers are striving to enhance the ARPU [average revenue per user] closer to $80 or $90 for their triple-A titles through greater focus on DLC and in-game micro-transactions, etc.”

Purchases on the console’s online store is going to be more popular than ever, but that does not mean that users are going to stop buying the boxed game.

He goes on to say, “While the switch to digital is inevitable, it seems the conditions are not quite ripe for that yet and discs will likely dominate in the foreseeable future,”

“This should benefit GME [GameStop], at least in the early part of the next cycle.”

We’ll be covering the Sony press conference and all the news which comes out from it in minute details, so be sure to bookmark our PS4 category and tune in live when it starts.

In a pre-E3 discussion with investors today, Pachter evaluates the cost of building the Xbox One console is priced at $325 per unit, while the PS4 is priced at $275 per unit. To make costs cheaper, Xbox may consider a subscription-based Xbox One model, sparking the rumor of a $299 version with a $15 Monthly Xbox Live Fee.

Pachter says, “We believe the ability to watch live TV from a cable, telco, or satellite set-top box through Xbox One could entice an MSO to drive subscriptions through a subsidized box in exchange for a multi-year contract. The ‘always connected’ requirement for the Xbox One likely means that a broadband connection will be required, suggesting to us that ISPs may have an incentive to offer a subsidy as well.”

He goes on to say, “In addition, Microsoft could conceivably subsidize the Xbox One through prepaid Xbox Live Gold subscriptions (as it has done on a limited basis in the past) or premium Skype functionality as well. Similarly, Sony could subsidize the PS4 through prepaid PlayStation Network subscriptions, but unlike Microsoft, it does not have a history of doing so,”

If his predictions are true, how do you feel about these prices?

Jack implied ”We’re gonna welcome free-to-play models, games from 99 cents up to those 60 dollar games,”  ”We’ll justify that $60 price point.”

U.S. department of labor’s inflation calculator clarified  $60 games in 2006  would round up to  $68.54 as in 2013. Considering if the  PS4  happen to be around for the next 5 or 6 years price would keep rising up. Meaning at this point a  $60 price for games in 2013 is really cheap.

In comparison between PS4 and PS3 games price, a $60 PlayStation 4 games are way more  cheaper than $60 PlayStation 3 games.
