Strength of the Sword was first revealed back in 2009 at the Game Developers Conference. On June 5^th, the game is launching on the European PlayStation Network after five long years of development.

The studio informed PlayStationGang that a U.S release is also planned but failed to give us a release date.

The “blade-wielding, magic-powered war machine from the heavens” combat game is currently titled, Strength of the Sword 3, and it is the first game labelled as the third, with a series that doesn’t exist.

The game is more in to giving players a challenge rather than just going through the story. The system’s “group AI” recognizes how each gamer plays and uses that advantage against the players, making it a stimulating gaming experience.

Ivent says, “We’re NEVER going to make sequels to our games. We want to take up different challenges each time around. And getting stuck on a single series doesn’t fit into it. So… we’ll be finishing all of our ‘trilogies’ right off the bat. Like, for Strength of the Sword 3… If we want to revisit the project, we much rather do it through DLC, so that we can just build on it instead of redoing it. Why go through all the boring things again-like tutorials and stuff; when we can just give the players that liked it more of the exciting content like Bosses, Levels, Weapons and stuff.”

It is without a doubt that all the best games were derived from ideas of people knowing they can do more for gaming. We find it inspiring that two individuals were so dedicated to gaming, that they devoted five years of their life developing their own unique game.

Microsoft wanted their reveal of the Xbox One to seem awesome, but it ended up being a show of mostly football and hardly any game reveals.

Sorry, Microsoft, but even the applauding didn’t help the event today.

The title’s story brings us to a devastated Earth in the near future (PT Era 102013). Humanity survived by withdrawing to a megalopolis named Panopticon. However, due to the depletion of natural resources the government is extremely strict and sentences a large number of people to imprisonment in order to have an easier time managing them.

Those imprisoned are called “criminals” and have been condemned to forced labor. They have to take part in a war strangely named “volunteer work”. In order to earn their freedom, the criminals have to fight every day in a continuous conflict to rescue the “citizens” and to compete for resources.

Dogs will now be part of the team, instead of just something you call in that has no meaning. They will be your friend, and the characters will express emotions more than any other Call of Duty title.

And with the new graphics engine, Ghosts looks absolutely stunning. Fish will move when you get near them, lighting and shadows will make everything look more realistic, hair on your character’s arms will be seen, cuts and bruises will be seen, and dirt under the nails will be seen.

Here are some of the games that we think you would definitely like to see in the line-up of the eagerly awaited PlayStation 4 when it launches in holiday this year.

1. New God of War game

The God of war series is one of the most popular games of Sony and has been running successfully for a long period of time. It is an award winning and critically acclaimed game based on Greek mythology. First released in 2005, the game is based on the vengeful actions of the protagonist Kratos who was the servant of Ares, the God of war. Definitely a game to be explored by the new technological advancements that the PS4 will usher in.

2. Uncharted 4

Another one we would definitely like to see in the PlayStation 4 catalogue. Published by Sony with developer Naughty Dog, the Uncharted series is a third person shooter video game developed exclusively for PlayStation consoles. The series follows the adventures of modern day treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The series started off with PS3 as the platform and went on to become one of the most successful games in the genre. With three successful installments, a next for the PS4 is definitely on the cards.

3. Gran Turismo 6

Selection of games for the PS4 will be not be complete without a racing game in the list. This is where a probable Gran Turismo 6 comes in. The Gran Turismo series is a racing simulation video game developed by Polyphony Digital. The game is primarily intended to simulate the performance and appearance of reproductions of a large selection of real life automobiles. The highest selling game for the PlayStation, the Gran Turismo 6, if released will definitely be a bestseller once again.

4. Killzone 4

We cannot omit a good shooter from the list of games desired for the PS4. So, definitely Killzone 4 makes the list. Developed by Guerrilla Games, Killzone, Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 are first person shooters. Killzone: Liberation is a stand-alone third person shooter. The series is about the war between the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance and Hellghast. Killzone 4 has officially been announced and we can’t wait to get our hands on the game.

5. Brand new IP by Sony

With a new console being introduced, it’s not hard to think that Sony is planning to announce some brand new IPs to boost its chances at catching gamers’ attention the world over. It would be interesting to see what Sony can manage to achieve with a more powerful console and new properties built from the ground up to utilize the power of the device would definitely be the perfect examples.

6. New game by Quantic Dream:

Quantic Dream is the pioneer in developing games in the cinematic genre. They are a French company and their games are characterized by the interactive entertainment they provide. Quantic Dream is the first to create games which allow players to play through multiple world lines and uses interactive cinema technology. Their games till now are Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. It is rumored that Quantic Dream is currently working on a new science fiction game titled Horizon. Definitely one to look out for.
