He said that while the team loved working on Embers – an animated short going back to visit Ezio outside of the games – that team is now working on other projects. So it’s not likely that Connor’s story will continue in either a video or video game.

As for the modern day setting, he stated:

“I doubt we would do a modern day AC. There are just too many mechanics we would have to develop to make it [believable]…vehicles, plausible modern cities, a hue array of ranged weapons, etc.”

“The modern day will most likely remain as a ‘context’ for all future games, something o tie them all together. Watch_Dogs will scratch the itch for a modern day AC. Just wait!”

McDevitt also went on to say that it is also unlikely that Ubisoft will resolve the Assassin/Templar conflict. “As for the Assassin’s Templar storyline resolving. I don’t think so. [It's] been going for 80,000 years already. Why stop it now?” After all the conflict isn’t just based on two organizations, but two competing philosophies that we still haven’t resolved to this day.

Ashraf Ismail, the Game Director of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag did an interview with Eurogamer, where he states, ”We have multiple development teams, then we have the brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc,”

“So there is an overall arc, and each iteration has its place inside this. We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is. But of course Yves [Guillemot, Ubisoft's overall boss] announced we are a yearly title, we ship one game a year.

“So depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we’ve given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end.”

He goes on to explain how lucky of a company they are, to have such a successful yearly franchise, especially the fact that they can accurately predict the future of each game.

He goes on to say, ”We’re now able to seed stuff earlier and earlier in our games. So for example in [AC4] we have Edward, who was seeded in AC3. But there’s a lot more stuff in our game that is hinting at other possibilities.”

Two years ago, Ubisoft launched their guitar game Rocksmith, which accumulated 1.4 million in sales, and sold 3 million DLC tracks. Selling over a million units worldwide, it has become a favorable way to learn guitar methods and studies showed it is “the fastest way to learn how to play the guitar.” With such a great success rate, Ubisoft has guaranteed “exciting Rocksmith news” next week at E3.

The CEO goes on to say, “We have many incredible games in development, and we’re especially excited to share more on our next-gen titles, which will deliver more connected, immersive and interactive experiences to our fans.”

Black Flag is coming to the PlayStation 3 on October 20, and the  PlayStation 4 this year holiday. Check out the debut gameplay trailer below.
