Are you starting to wonder that if don’t make the jump from Sony’s PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4 you’ll lose support? Sony reveals that they have no plans on leaving the PlayStation 3 consoles for the time being. As long as gamers continue to use and support the PlayStation 3, Sony will back it with updates and video games.

Sony’s PlayStation software product development head for the United States, Scott Rohde spoke with Gamesindustry International. During the talk, Scott revealed that the company isn’t planning on leaving the PlayStation 3 behind to only focus on the PlayStation 4.

All the different parts of the world just adopt new technology at different rates. We don’t know how long the PS3 tail will last. We don’t know how it will be compared to the PS2. The PS2 lasted very deep into the PS3 cycle. There was a broad price difference between PS3 launch and PS2 end of life. We don’t know where all this is going to go, but we will continue to support the PS3 through first- and third-parties as long as there is a good business there for us.

This is a good sign for those who are still gaming on the PlayStation 3. As mentioned, there’s no sign as to how long gamers will continue to use the PlayStation 3 with the PlayStation 4 consoles already on the market today.

Cult County was a horror title that was set to be exclusive for the Nintendo handheld 3DS. Though it seems that development studio, Renegade Kid, decided Cult County was too big of a title for just the 3DS. Instead, Renegade Kid announced that Cult County would be hitting consoles and more specifically, the PlayStation Morpheus.

Cult County is a horror title that is played out in first-person. The game has been reportedly similar to the style of Silent Hill and Resident Evil, two horror series that has been very successful in both a video game and film format.

During development of the 3DS title, Renegade Kid decided that the game would be too big for the handheld resulting in moving the title to consoles.

The development team put up a Kickstarter asking for pledges to bring the title to consoles. Currently, the goal is set at $580,000 with $25,000 backers already signed up. If the development team can bring in the goal amount, Cult County will be published for Steam, Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 (with Morpheus support), PlayStation Vita and if the goal hits $640,000, an Xbox 360 copy will be published as well.

The popular development tool known as Unity first announced back in mid 2013, that support would be available for all current PlayStation consoles. However, the support directly for the PS Vita wasn’t present until now. Unity has announced that the development engine Vita support in now finally available for developer use. This should be great news to hear for developers who are known for using the Unity tool in game development and also for those Vita owners looking for a larger catalog of titles in the near future.

With the Unity engine, developers who hold a current licensed developer agreement form Sony Computer Entertainment are able to develop video game titles for the PS Vita. Through Unity, developers will be able to fine tweak the Vita’s motion sensors, dual cameras, analog sticks and the rear touch pad. Besides the hardware adjustments, Unity will also allow developers to integrate several PSN features such as the Vita trophies and even multiplayer match-making.

The first Unity game to get released for the Vita is Stick It To The Man by Zoink! This title was made to fully test out the Unity engine with the Vita hardware and so far the game received incredible reviews. Stick It To The Man is a side-scrolling platformer filled with hilarious gameplay.

The upcoming PlayStation 4 will stop supporting a format Sony’s home consoles always have supported: compact discs.

Reiji Asakura, the Japanese journalist who wrote the best selling book “Revolutionaries at Sony: The Making of the Sony PlayStation and the Visionaries Who Conquered the World of Video Games” tweeted about how Sony told him the PS4 will not play CDs or Super Audio CDs. Kotaku found the tweet, and the PlayStation 3, however, does play both of these formats.

Sony co-developed the CD with Philips in the 1970s. While many people listen to digital audio files for music, CDs are still the preferred format for many music enthusiasts.

Will the loss of CD support affect you? Let us know in the comments below.
