Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series have been waiting for the upcoming release along with any announcements for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 video game. Now it seems that the development of the game has taken a new form through the use of Unreal Engine 4.

The Kingdom Hearts 3 video game is said to be released sometime next year in 2015. Development of Kingdom Hearts 3 was first announced during E3 2013 but news of the development has been a bit scarce. Though there is a bit of news made recently from Tetsuya Nomura, who recently left development of Final Fantasy XV and will be working on Kingdom Hearts 3.

According to Nomura, Square Enix has switched the development of Kingdom Hearts 3 to Epic Games, Unreal Engine 4. Because of the switch Square Enix made, there are a few rendering issues that they are working on so we’re unsure of how this affects the desired 2015 release date.

We will of course keep you updated on the very latest of Kingdom Hearts 3 right here on PlayStation Gang.

Cliff Bleszinksi, certainly a name that most gamers are familiar with but those who are unaware, Bleszinksi happened to be a former director of Gears of War and Epic Games employee. Recently, Cliff Bleszinksi came out of retirement to once again, work on video games but his thoughts on E3 as of late may be a bit shocking for most.

E3 is a giant expo, quite possibly the biggest expo in terms of video games. VentureBeat caught up with Cliff Bleszinski to ask him about his thoughts on the gaming industry, to be more specific, his thoughts of it seeing it from a different light as he was no longer working within the industry.

Bleszinski revealed that he had some different thoughts about the industry towards the end of his career at Epic Games but most recently, the latest E3 expo this year was not a fun or fond experience.

I see the entire thing as largely a waste of money. It’s a model that’s eventually going to die. I see developers killing themselves for these stage demos, and that’s a moot point in this new world order that we’re in.

Cliff Bleszinski, mostly known for his work in Epic Games on the Gears of War series, has announced that he will be coming out of retirement to make video games once again. This comes from his official Twitter account and we can expect a big announcement next week.

Cliff worked with Epic Games for over 20 years and he had a hand on one of the biggest video game franchises Microsoft owned for the Xbox 360, Gears of War. Since 2012, Cliff has been retired and left the video game development scene. However, that has changed and he is back once again to develop more video games.

I’m officially coming out of retirement to make video games again. Stay tuned here for details in the next 7 days! #DontCallItAComeback

— Cliff Bleszinski (@therealcliffyb) June 30, 2014

We’re very excited to see what Cliff Bleszinski is working on. This video game made him come out of retirement so we’ll of course have the latest right here on PSG.

Known for Gears of War, Epic Games has three current video games in development. according to Edge, among the three, one will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Most of the now current generation video games that are currently being developed are using Unreal Engine 4 and are mostly new IPs compared to sequels.

This information has been revealed by Epic Games’ EU territory manager Mike Gamble. In a conversation with Edge, Mr. Gamble said that the split between existing series and new IP is “at least 50/50 – if not 70/30 in favour of new stuff.” He also added, “There’s a lot of buffering. A lot of studios are doing a franchise iteration and a new IP.”

When asked about the announcement of these new IPs and why has Epic been silent, Mr. Gamble insisted that there was a good reason for that and said, “There haven’t really been any announcements of the games still under wraps [that use UE4] – as soon as they start going live, then you’ll see suddenly see that we’re everywhere again. You’ll be thoroughly sick of us!”

Confirming about new announcements at GDC this year, Mr Gamble said, “It’ll happen this year, toward the Christmas period. Knowing the games that are in development, there are some crackers. The first quarter of 2015 is also where a lot of them seem to be aiming. This year there seems to be alot of cross-gen, but that’s publishers and developers being safe, isn’t it? It’s still a good revenue stream.”

We’ll keep you posted about any new announcements by Epic Games. For more PlayStation news, stay tuned to PSGang.

The founder of Epic Games Tim Sweeney has recently announced at the Develop Conference that they are developing a “triple-A shooter”, where there could be a possibility of the next Gears of War game.

It has been confirmed that there are many other games being developed as well, such as the game Fortnite where ‘Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead’ and “really tiny projects”.

Last week, there was also a report where Epic Games is developing a “competitive online action game… that doesn’t fit easily into some existing genre.” It is still unsure if it is the same game.

Epic Games has been known for their popular titles Gears of War and Unreal Tournament series. Fortnite will be released this year, but the launch date has not been confirmed yet.

Keep checking back to stay updated.

Many PC gamers have blamed consoles for not being powerful enough to run Unreal Engine 4′s Global Illumination tech. In an interview with GameTrailers, Epic Games’ Tim Sweeney decided to shed some light on that matter.

Epic Games’ Global Illumination technique is called Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination (SVOGI), a technique that was developed by Andrew Scheidecker. Despite what Epic Games showcased at last year’s GDC, it seems that this technique is too heavy for actual games.

Sweeney told GameTrailers that SVOGI was extremely expensive. Therefore, Epic Games decided to create a series of graphical effects that achieve the same image fidelity as SVOGI with far better performance.

Global Illumination refers to the calculation of light bouncing around a scene and gives realistic glossy and metallic reflections.
This means that UE4 supports realistic real-time reflections, realistic lighting, and a combination of direct lighting with pre-computed Global Illumination.

As Sweeney stated, the aforementioned features enabled them to achieve that level of effects of SVOGI without all the cost.

At the PlayStation Meeting, some amazing graphics using the replica of SVOGI were shown. Considering how the games have looked so far for the PS4, none of the console gamers have complained.

A tech demo showing off Epic Games’ latest Unreal Engine 4′s capabilities have made it into the wild. The demo which shows the engine in its full glory running on a single Nvidia GTX 680 GPU is a treat for the eyes. The new engine will also make its presence felt in next-gen consoles, however it’s unlikely it’ll be able to produce visuals the quality of the demo shown below.
