Report – Resident Evil 7 is not debuting at E3

Despite recent rumors of a possible appearance for Resident Evil 7, a source close to Capcom has verified to Geimaku that they may not make an appearance at all.

Rumors started earlier this month when a promotional poster for Resident Evil 7 with the tagline “The War Ends Now”, was apparently leaked, turns out the poster was a fake.

Resident Evil Revelations Producer Masachika Kawata states, “I think we’ll get a lot of input from the fanbase and the media on what it means for Resident Evil, and what it could mean for the future of the series… We’ll definitely be looking at that as a signpost for where we need to be going next”

What advice can you give Capcom about their Resident Evil series?

  1. I think Capcom should make the resident evil series more scarier and intense like the silent hill games because the Silent Hill series are really scary when you are playing them especially at night time.

  2. I like Resident Evil a lot, in fact I just got Revelations and I love it! I revisit the old ones too. There are good and bad aspects to any game out there. Being as I know the game and characters so well I get more prolonged enjoyment out of playing. So with that said I really hope the franchise continues and keeps to its originality. The only problem I've ever had with (Res. 6 for example) were the cut-scenes at the worst possible times, and the furious tapping of buttons…but then again my hands are pretty weak so that's just my thing I guess. It's comforting to be an avid fan of a particular game, etc. a weird form of OCD maybe, but I enjoy it so I put in my two cents. :)

  4. Please Capcom, make a f*cking epic finale and reboot the series, Co-Op being a optional exclusive mode, no J'avo, or even if you take more of the style of RE4 I'm fine with that, but please, less QTE's, less actions, less Gigantic monsters, more panic, more scares, more horror.

  6. The best yet for me is RE4 and RE5. The RE6 was a big loser for me. I suggest the RE7 be a combination of RE4 and RE5 so that both enemies and monsters will be there too. Just sayin..

  7. They need to go back to horror/ survival. We no longer want any of the fancy things the offer. They're nice but its not worth it. I started playing Resident Evil because the game was a big puzzle filled with traps, dead ends, challenges, and some pretty good scares. This is why I loved the game was because it made me feel like I was doing something. It challenged the mind. Now a days it's like a LONG hall way that become redundant and stupid. This takes the feeling of doing something like playing Resident Evil to Hallway Evil. Come on Capcom, Think!

  9. Plus you couldn't just kill everything. You had to think and choose. You didn't have bullets everywhere. You had to scavenge. Bullets wouldn't be easy to find in a real apocalypse. So why should they be in the game? Another reason i liked the old games. This is a SURVIVAL horror, not a LOOT horror.

  10. My 2c. I fall into the group that enjoy 1 through to Code Veronica and 0 over the era of 4 and onwards (minus 3, Nemesis is the most pointless game in the series). 4 being the exception, but it ultimately fails in delivering the tense stylized atmosphere in a great horror setting, claustrophobia, separation/loneliness, dread, fear, paranoia and mystery with enough action to keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat that the first set of games pulled off well. There are glimpses of this but the move to predominantly action based game play rarely sees the player concerned about ammo/combat, health items or having to make too many hard choices regarding inventory management. From 4 and onwards you always seem to have enough of what you need and rarely back track, being pushed in linear fashion through the game is a serious flaw seeing as exploration was a significant part of what made the first couple of games shine (remake in particular). You were guided through subtly, hinted at what you needed to do in order to progress but given further options for exploration. Regardless of whether you were at the start, or making your way into the later stages of the game each section unfolded in such a away that exploration wouldn't only get you to the next major section (find keys/emblems etc), but open up rooms you could explore that would provide more encounters with enemies potentially causing you harm and depleting ammo reserves, add to the games narrative through hints and messages left for the player to find, as well as open up more puzzles and/or reward with preciously scarce items (or all of the above), an experience you don't really get with linear games.

The game should be difficult, require skills in inventory management, combat (you shouldn't have enough ammo to gun down everything in a Resident Evil game, a part of what added to the stress of exploration was having to consider what you could/couldn't/had to fight or could avoid) and puzzle solving. Future games need to go back to this type of game play content, there is no reason why not and would be everything that gamers that loved the original series and that actually don't mind the new controls (who would have though you could move and aim!) but think that the core game in the past few titles has detracted from everything that made Resident Evil, Resident Evil, have craved for a while. Lets hope that future titles are for the next gen of consoles, not on WiiU (preferably PS4) and is either a new title that marries the game play/settings/atmosphere of the old games with the controls and graphics from the newer games, or a remake of Resident Evil 2 given the same level of care that the remake of Resident Evil received on the Game Cube – still a master piece of gaming. My 2c.
