3. There is no reason for new consoles. The current PS3 is just coming into its stride, and the economy isn’t in a good position for people to spend money on new consoles. Maybe make a new kinect style interface for PS3 if you must, but asking people to spend a ton of money in this environment might end up making this a flop. I hope they keep releasing games for the PS3 after launch of the PS4, because even though I can afford the ocasional game, there is no way I can afford a new console.

   1. Xbox consoles have expired while Ps3′s market is booming. Still that is not going to be a reasonable argument. Assuming you are a marketing person yourself i would believe that you understand why Ps4 has to be released if the Microsoft comes with 720.

4. ummm… I think is too early to get a new console, I think is better if this console can be released between fall and winter 2014 or until 2015, PS3 still has too much to offer, too many PS fans as me are happy with the PS3, whatever,maybe I’ll get it until my PS3 gets broken or the PS4 gets cheap XD

         1. I guess because of the fact PS3 would be much cheaper, but there r still hell lot of fantastic games, that could be played. I bought my console about 1,5 year ago and I finished about 10% of games I wish to, so I still have a lot of stuff to spend my money for.

6. I don’t like this ! I hope sony does better ! These specs show that the next xbox is more advanced than the next Playstation ! this is not good !

   1. well we also understood in our previous experience that the ability of a console or better specs has no much effect until we utilize that. See we still have not been able to use PS3 to its full potential. While some companies are looking methods to exploit Ps3 to maximum some games like Uncharted have clearly stated that they need another generation of console to push themselves further.

7. simply put, IF these consoles hit the market this year then these ass clowns don’t have a brain and we should stop supporting them completely. Seeing as the people are generally too stupid to ACTUALLY stop supporting them even if we get fucked over, they know this and will fuck us over if they see fit but maybe there is a brain in these corps that will inform them that we can’t do this for maybe a few years or so.

9. I hope Sony implements a 8-core processor, even if the quad core is better than the 720 BECAUSE stupid ass people will buy Xbox 720 even if it’s worse. Also the PS4 MUST (in my opinion) feature the 2nd gen of XDR RAM from Rambus (RD-RAM)

I think they should wait another year or 2, think of the people who bought a console this year, also Alex stop being such a Sony fan-boy everyone knows the Xbox is better I have a Wii, Ps3, and Xbox 360. The Xbox is way better than the Ps3, and it always will be. The economy still needs to pick up, especially if they are going to be making consoles with the specs listed here, they outdo current computers which cost hundreds to make.and to sell them to make profit? Forget about it.

Stop talking bullshit, Of course then it wouldn’t look more powerful because developers create the games for xbox then port them to ps3.You tell me xbox can handle Uncharted 3, or Metal Gear Solid 4 or Grand Turismo 5. It can’t, xbox can’t even handle a 1080p image, let alone stereoscopic 3D for that matter.
       Its like a heard in a previous interview, the ps3 has yet to be used to its full potential, if you look at xbox games now, that’s as good as the games are going to look, the system has been around for over 5 years now and its been pushed to its limits. However, you look at the games for ps3 on release date, and now, and they aren’t even comparable. So in a few more years you’ll see ps3 games will look better, and better, and better but only if developers really want to push the ps3 to its limits.

    2. also i am not ps3 fanboy or anything as such but as of January 2013 , the gaming experience of PS3 exclusives and i am certain with the incoming this year have outclassed , outperformed and shot Xbox. You see i may be neutral in terms of consoles but i am certainly hoping that you are just sounding like a Liverpool fan claiming how great thier players and teams are and they are capable to win the Premier league lol

    3. ps3 far surpasses the xbox 360, I have a wii, a ps3, and an xbox 360, just got the xbox a month ago and I wish I had left it at the store.

13. I agree with Joe Coldwell , maybe a great financial dissapointment to the Sony , and hope that the games dont lose the quality like happens with the PS2, if the PS4 was launched.

16. If the Xbox is DDR3 then that’s nothing my ps3 super slim has DDR4 and if the new ps4 will have GDDR5 then that’s ten times better.

18. Like you guys, I don’t like this either but games are getting more power and requires more of the PS3 that it can give. So I understand why they want to make the new console, a new generation BUT, like I read below, the economy isn’t in a godd position so I hope they know what they are doing or the date of the end of PS4 is known before the date of its launch.

19. I disagree about the date. If there really will be a ps4 coming out then most likely it will be released during e3 2014. Or a least leaked.

As long as the PS4 is compatible with the PS3′s games people will be happy to fork out a few hundred to buy a new console with it’s new features and probably bigger hard drive, even if it means waiting a while to start buying the new consoles games if it’s hard on their wallets. (The reason i didn’t buy a PS3 console for at least a few years is that i already had all these PS2 games that i couldn’t play on the PS3). Especially with today/tomorrow’s playstation store’s capability of providing the user with ‘free’ mini games at the least, the user of the new console will be immediately able to use it. If this was the case, let’s face it, alot of us would buy it just to be able to say we own the fancy next gen console.
    Holding off the release of the PS4 only holds off the next generation of games, as said by a growing number of groups, such as; Square Enix and the Uncharted group as i’ve seen in the other comments. For any game lover, this waiting can be hell.

    I say, as long as it’s backwards compatible, the PS4 couldn’t come sooner.

22. Lets all remember that these are just rumors. And for those saying the specs are better on the new xbox you obviously aren’t looking up all of the hardware. The only thing those xbox stats have over the ps3 is the memory and even that the xbox is sporting ddr3 while the ps4 says gddr5 which is much more effecient so if the ps4 does the 4gb of that it would almost be the same. And let us not forget that the ps3 blows the xbox out of the water even though it only sports 256 mb RAM while the xbox has 2gb if I remember correctly. And since the release date truly hasn’t been announced I would say they probably will release shortly before christmas 2014 which, if history stands true, means that everyone that wants that extra year can take it to wait for them to get the bugs out before before buying because we all remember that there were no great games, and tons of flaws with the first gen of all the previous next gen consoles and I guarantee that ps3 games will continue to have new releases in that first year just off of companies that are in production now not being able to release before that time.
    That is all.

26. This is entirely based on rumours, all you people getting butthurt about the specs or release date need to chill out. Even if they do (stupidly) release the PS4 this year, the ps3 won’t die for ages, and by making games that are playable on both consoles, like they did with PS3/PS4, you’ll still get to enjoy the PS3, and they’ll have to push it’s capabilities. Just be fuckin’ patient!
