PS4 will be able to play used games

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida made it clear that the PlayStation 4 will indeed be able to play used games. Yoshida confirmed to Eurogamer today

The PS4 will accept used purchased titles Yoshida said to Eurogamer:

“Yes. That’s the general expectation by consumers. They purchase physical form, they want to use it everywhere, right? So that’s my expectation. …So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?”

      1. Getting a little bit ahead of ourselves aren’t we? We don’t know Xbox details for some more weeks so lets not speculate. I am sure Xbox will take all the hype away from Ps4.

  1. The comments to me are kind of ambiguous. “That’s my expectation”? That could mean that is what the guy answering the question desires, but not what will be done in the finished product. How are we talking about used games being allowed on ps4 when according to insider knowledge EB Games and GameStop are preparing to take a big hit because 1) PS4 will only offer games only via PSN and 2) Sales of used games is going to be limited if not banned??? If games will only be sold online, there is no possibility of selling or buying used games.

  2. Damn I am happy to hear this. All this talk about the next Xbox being rumored not to be able to play used games had me worried. If indeed the rumors are true, and the next Xbox will not be able too, I am sure PS4 will do better this generation. I’ll still buy both though. I have both now, but use my 360 more (and a Wii U, but it’s pretty early yet, albeit fun).

  3. Hey everyone, if you are all questioning if the PS4 will be backwards compatible with
PS3 games, here is an article from IGN.com that I think you all should read and it will answer your questions so you can stop asking over and over the same question once and for all: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/21/playstation-4-not-backwards-compatible-with-retail-or-digital-games

  4. there no problem to buy a ps4 but the burden to us in the philippines is the money convertion like your 400 dollars to your its just 400 dollars same to your country to us if you converted in philippines the price its triple its 20 thousand pesos because philippines pesos has no value compare to your for us a filipino your 400 dollar such a burden because of the money conversionthere no problem to buy a ps4 but the burden to us in the philippines is the money convertion like your 400 dollars to your its just 400 dollars same to your country to us if you converted in philippines the price its triple its 20 thousand pesos because philippines pesos has no value compare to your for us a filipino your 400 dollar such a burden because of the money conversion.

  5. I want it to play ps1, ps2, ps3 and ps4 games. That would be SUPER awsome because some people want to have older games then new ones or the other way around.

  6. Why buy a next generation console to play last generation games? Just keep your PS3. Also, most of your favourite games will be remastered in 1080p at 60fps for a budget price next generation anyway and by cutting out BC they can make the price of the PS4 cheaper.
