Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, created by EA, has been announced to launch on February 25th in North America for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It has been confirmed that the game will have a multiplayer feature and microtransactions.

If microtransactions aren’t bad enough, this game seems to unplayable when the user is offline. When the player tries to play any game mode, a pop up appears requiring them to sign into Xbox Live.

A video was uploaded on YouTube by user Jed05, showing the problems that occurred when playing the game, but is no longer available due to a copyright claim reported by EA. It was a short video that showed the Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare being played on the Xbox 360, but no selections to play the game offline. The user couldn’t even enter the Options Menu without signing in to Xbox Live. This was weird of EA to do, because the game has an offline splitscreen mode, that isn’t even accessible without online connection, and it turns out that mode is only exclusive to the Xbox One.

There has been no word of the Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare game coming to PS3 or PS4 yet, and the decision is all up to PopCap.

What do you think could be the reason why the game requires an online connection?
